Timapuu is a family-owned business founded in Tornio in 2000 by Timo and Antti Marttila. Antti had strong experience in the industry by this time, having worked in the field since 1995. The idea of starting their own company emerged from the duo’s desire to improve the production of barbecue huts and ensure their high quality from the production of the elements all the way to installation.
In the early years, the operation was small, with only 2-3 employees and long working days. The first products were 9.9 m² barbecue huts and sauna huts. Today, the product range has expanded significantly, with the smallest grill cabin now being 6.9 m² and the largest, a model launching next year, already measuring 41.5 m². In the mid-2000s, there were several domestic manufacturers in the field, but today Timapuu is one of the few genuinely Finnish manufacturers of grill cabins.

Currently, we employ around 15 fantastic professionals who work at our “hut factories” in Tornio in production, logistics, and installation. All parts of the huts, including doors and windows, are manufactured in-house at our factory from start to finish.

We are committed to maintaining domestic production and ensuring the high quality of our products. Supporting local operators and using Finnish wood products are key elements of our company’s operational philosophy. This is evident in both the company’s daily operations and long-term development, which aims to preserve and develop the Finnish hut tradition.
We work closely with local subcontractors. Tornion Lasi supplies the glass, and the grills for our outdoor structures are manufactured in Finland by trusted subcontractors. We take pride in our Finnish roots and in ensuring that anything we cannot produce ourselves comes from reliable local businesses. The wood used in our buildings primarily comes from Kuhmo and smaller sawmills in northern Finland. Our neighbor, JS Höyläämö in Tornio, planes all the timber we use.
We mainly handle logistics ourselves. We transport the outdoor buildings with our own trucks to customers across Finland, while also handling the installation. This ensures that there are no damages during transportation and that the schedules are met.
