Ari started planning an additional building for his cottage grounds, as there was a particular need for a cooler place to accommodate overnight guests during the hot summer months.
“We have a small sauna cottage of just under 30 square metres. There’s a sauna on one side and a living area with a loft on the other. When we heat the sauna in summer, the loft can get really hot. We wanted some additional, cooler sleeping space so that we could comfortably accommodate more overnight guests.”
The idea of an additional building had been on Ari’s mind for some time, but finding the right solution required a little consideration.
A GRILL HUT OR A SLEEPING HUT?
At first, Ari considered a grill hut, but the more he thought about how the building would actually be used, the clearer it became that a sleeping hut would better meet their needs.
“For a long time, I wondered whether we should get a grill hut or a sleeping hut. In the end, I decided on a sleeping hut and checked whether Timapuu had something suitable, as I had already become familiar with the company while looking at grill huts. We didn’t really consider any other suppliers. We chose the sleeping hut because I figured we’d probably spend more time sleeping in it than grilling sausages.”
The appearance of the building also played an important role in the decision.
“We didn’t want a traditional cabin-style outbuilding. We chose the sleeping hut because it’s a really impressive-looking building and fits beautifully into the surroundings.”
A PLACE TO SLOW DOWN AND RELAX
The sleeping hut was put to use immediately after delivery and has been used frequently ever since.
“We’ve already spent many nights sleeping there – and we’ve grilled a few sausages over the stove as well.”
The interior has been kept simple yet cosy. The hut has a wood-burning stove, a sofa bed, a chest of drawers, an armchair, a table and log stools – everything needed for a comfortable and relaxing stay.
“The idea wasn’t to turn it into another living room filled with entertainment, but rather to create a place where you can relax and sleep. The stove creates a really wonderful atmosphere.”
One decision was also made deliberately to preserve that atmosphere.
“At first, I wondered whether we should have electricity installed, but in the end I decided against it. It just wouldn’t have the same atmosphere as sitting by the stove.”
DELIVERY WENT EXACTLY AS AGREED
Ari began planning the purchase well in advance. Towards the end of the previous year, he visited Timapuu’s factory in Tornio to see the buildings in person, and the order was placed during the same visit.
He hoped the building could be delivered during the first week of June.
“I said it would be great if the hut could arrive on the Monday of the first week of June. And that’s exactly when it arrived.”
The foundations were planned together with Timapuu.
“We discussed the foundation solution together by email, and everything was really straightforward.”
Ari was particularly impressed with the installation team.
“I have to say, the installers were extremely professional. They were truck drivers, log builders and sheet-metal workers all in one. They had to reverse the truck along some narrow roads, which I had been a little worried about beforehand, but you could immediately tell that this was completely routine for them. They assembled the hut on site with ease. In no time at all, the hut and stove were ready to use, and everything went exactly as it should.”
A READY-TO-USE SOLUTION MADE EVERYTHING EASY
For Ari, one of the biggest advantages was that the building was delivered and professionally installed as a complete solution.
“Of course, a ready-made solution comes at a cost, but if I had built it myself, I would have spent my summer holiday doing it. On top of that, I would have needed to ask friends to come and help. You have to put a value on that time as well.”
With Timapuu’s own team taking care of the construction and installation, the sleeping hut was ready to use immediately after delivery – leaving Ari free to enjoy the summer instead of spending it on a building project.
“I WOULD DEFINITELY RECOMMEND TIMAPUU”
When Ari is asked to sum up his experience with Timapuu, the answer comes without hesitation.
“I would definitely recommend them. The delivery, installation – everything happened exactly as agreed, and the end result is excellent. The only thing I wonder is why you don’t see more of these in people’s gardens.”
Now, a couple of months after installation, the sleeping hut has become an important part of the cottage grounds. It provides guests with a cosy place to sleep, a peaceful space to unwind and an opportunity to simply spend time without distractions.
